Art - Paintings - Carl Sublett

Born near Paintsville, Kentucky, he had a keen interest in art at an early age. After World War II, he joined an affiliate program at the University of Florence, Italy, there receiving a citizens award for his artwork. From newspaper staff artist to communications designer to Professor of Fine Art, teaching oil painting, watercolor painting, drawing and design for the University of Tennessee, at Knoxville. After nearly three decades teaching, he retired to paint full time, alternating his seasons from the coast of Maine to the mountains of Tennessee.

Sublett Says: "When composing art, my visual concerns are: form, order, and energy. With each experience a creative discipline permits the work in progress to have its own way from time to time. A good work of art that possess a mix of emotional and intellectual content keeps its illusion and visual energy alive forever."
